Glenn
Meet Glenn Ushkowitz, the founder and owner of Couch Potato Carpet & Flooring. In 2002, Glenn moved to Harrisburg from Queens, New York to open an installation workroom for a big box store. Glenn dreamed of his own flooring store and in 2004, Couch Potato Carpet was born. Glenn was previously a carpet and vinyl installer and has firsthand knowledge in the flooring business. In 2018, the company grew, opened a second location in Etters, and evolved into Couch Potato Carpet & Flooring. Glenn works along side his daughters and son-in-law, making this a true family business. Currently, Glenn is on the Board of Directors for the Harrisburg Home Builders Association and is enjoying his new role. Glenn’s hobbies include hanging out with his friends at the cigar bar, driving his slingshot and taking trips. Glenn and his wife are about to go to Italy for the 3rd time. Mamma Mia! In his spare time, Glenn enjoys being with his grandsons and giving them the world. Taking them on adventures to the arcade, trampoline parks, horseback riding and professional sports games. Glenn’s favorite part about working at Couch Potato is helping the customers and the community. “I always love to help our local community. Donating to youth sports and local schools is a blessing that can only happen when the community shops small business. I can only hope to donate to even more organizations each year as we grow.”
Matt
Meet Matt Boyd, our Vice President. Matt is a family member and has been working in the business since 2012. Matt started off as an installer, installing hard surface floors like laminate and hardwood. Matt grew up building homes with his father and has over 15 years of experience in flooring and construction. In 2022, Matt was promoted to Vice President and now handles all commercial accounts. In his spare time, Matt likes to play with his sons, coach youth baseball and volunteer with his church. Some hobbies he enjoys are driving Traxxas RC’s and upgrading their parts, tinkering in his garage and going to the gun range. Taking his time and doing his own woodwork, like building a table or bookshelf, is something he is very passionate about. One of Matt’s favorite parts about working at Couch Potato is resolving customers issues. “When dealing with a stressed customer, I am happy to take care of them and satisfy their needs. I truly enjoy turning their frown, upside down!”
Gina
Meet Gina Ushkowitz, our General Manager. Gina is a family member and has been working in the business for over 15 years! If you stop into the Hummelstown showroom, there’s a great chance Gina will be there to help pick out your new flooring. This is her favorite part of her job! Gina enjoys spending time with her friends, playing with her nephews and going out to new restaurants- she is such a foodie! In her spare time, Gina enjoys going to concerts, watching sports and attending church. In the summertime, Gina attends a different concert almost every weekend- ask her about the best spots to catch a show! Gina’s favorite part about working at Couch Potato is getting to work with her family. “I didn’t grow up near my Dad, so it’s really exciting to work with him and have disagreements daily.” Stop into Hummelstown to have Gina help you make those difficult flooring decisions.
Sarina
Meet Sarina Boyd, our Marketing Manager. Sarina is a family member and has been working with the business on and off over the years. Sarina spent nine years being a stay at home mom, but within the last few years has become a lot more active in the business. Sarina enjoys cooking for her family, working out and attending church. In her spare time, she is at the ball field watching her sons play baseball. Sarina’s favorite part about working at Couch Potato is seeing a customer make their product and color selection. “We have so many amazing products, some customers come back over and over before they make a decision. Once they make their choice, it is so exciting to bring their vision to life”.
Tom
Meet Tom Billington, our Lead Salesman. Tom, aka Florida Tom, was born and raised outside of Tampa, Florida. In 2013, Tom moved to Harrisburg to apprentice at Couch Potato as a flooring installer. Tom installed flooring from 2013 until 2018, when he became a salesman. With firsthand knowledge of flooring installation- Tom was the perfect choice to become our first salesman! Tom likes spending time with his family, volunteering with the children’s program at his church and baking. If you see Tom around the holidays, be sure to get a slice of his homemade apple pie! In his spare time, Tom enjoys bringing his kids to the park or toy store and shooting hoops with friends. Tom’s favorite part about working at Couch Potato is working with new customers and turning them into repeat customers that are like family. “Making sure my customers have the best experience from start to finish is my highest priority.” Request Tom on your next measure!
Peter
Meet Peter Fisher, our Installation Manager. Pete is one of Couch Potato’s lifetime employees, working here since 2005! Pete has been in the flooring business most of his life and has been installing carpet since 2000. Pete is a family man who loves to go camping and ride bikes with his son. In the summer, you will find Pete and his family on many different campgrounds, traveling in their RV. In his spare time, Pete’s usually installing carpet for his personal customers or remodeling parts of his home. Most recently, he remodeled a basement kitchen for his wife’s new business- Tara’s Chocolates, yum! Pete’s favorite part about working at Couch Potato is guiding his customers to make the best decision on their flooring and making sure they are happy with the finished product. Stop in our Hummelstown location to ask Pete all your flooring questions, with his firsthand knowledge, there is a 99% chance he knows the answer. “I truly love talking with customers and answering any questions they have. I want them to have trust in our company and know their job will go smoothly.”
Danielle
Meet Danielle Carr, our Etters Office Manager. Danielle grew up as a Navy Brat, moving around the country until settling in Etters, Pennsylvania in 1999. Danielle is a mother of three, who spends most of her free time with her children. When not working, you will find Danielle attending her kid’s sporting events like lacrosse or wrestling. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking homemade dinners using herbs from her garden. Danielle has been working at Couch Potato for 5 years and loves helping customers find their perfect floor. If you stop into the Etters showroom, there is a 99% chance Danielle will help you make those tough decisions. One of Danielle’s favorite parts about working at Couch Potato is seeing familiar faces coming into the showroom. “Growing up here locally, I have reconnected with so many old friends and even old teachers! It’s fun to catch up and then help make their flooring dream, become a reality.”
Dave
Meet Dave Heckman, one of our Salesmen. Dave is a Pennsylvania native who grew up in West Hanover and attended Central Dauphin High School. Dave enjoys being involved in his local community, coaching sports and is President of the Central Dauphin Youth Rams Football Organization. In his spare time, Dave likes to spend time with family, volunteer with his church and play guitar. Dave Heckman Acoustics is one of his favorite hobbies, check out his page to see his next gig! Dave’s favorite part of working at Couch Potato is meeting new people and seeing their dream come to life. “Seeing the completed project and the customers reaction is the best feeling!” Request Dave on your next measure!
Gavin
Meet Gavin Dively, our Warehouse and Delivery guy. Gavin is Couch Potato’s newest employee who started in October 2023, shortly after graduating from Red Land High School. Gavin was born and raised in Etters, Pennsylvania and living close to our Etters location helped him land the job. In his spare time, Gavin enjoys playing basketball with friends, hanging out with his girlfriend and taking day trips around the state! Recently, Gavin and his girlfriend walked around Philadelphia for the day visiting small, family-owned eateries. They love to try new foods! When not working at Couch Potato, you will find Gavin working on old cars. He particularly enjoys working on older BMW’s, one he currently drives. Gavin also enjoys other construction type work and is currently helping remodel his mother’s garage. Gavin’s favorite part about working at Couch Potato is learning from his coworkers and delivering to happy customers. “Customers are so excited when I pull up to their homes for delivery with their new flooring, it’s like Christmas morning!”
